Atlanta-area real estate firm known for “at home” closings opens new Woodstock, Ga. location and hires attorney to service additional business in South Carolina

Cook & James, the Atlanta-based real estate law firm which pioneered at-home closings, is furthering its expansion efforts by opening a new location in Woodstock, Ga. and adding a new attorney, Stacey Besser, to serve increased closing transaction business throughout South Carolina, especially in the Columbia-area counties of Richland and Lexington.

“We have been laying the groundwork for our expansion efforts strategically over the last three years and today’s announcement about our new office and adding Stacey to our staff of attorneys is the newest marker of our ongoing success,” said Heather James, co-founding partner at Cook & James.

The new Woodstock office will open immediately and is in response to more business in the northern Atlanta suburbs and in Cherokee County. The firm’s existing office in the Alpharetta/Roswell area (North Fulton County) will maintain its current level of staffing and services. Both offices not only provide employee workspaces, but locations for training, team building and professional development, as well as alternative closing locations for the firm’s signature at-home solution, in which attorneys travel anywhere that is convenient for a client’s real estate closing transaction.

“Opening the new Woodstock office comes at a perfect time for Cook & James,” said Kara Cook, co-founding partner. “We’ve experienced an uptick in business north of Atlanta for some time now and we’re excited to pair this expansion with the simultaneous demand for more closings in South Carolina. Stacey’s expertise, experience and work ethic perfectly compliment the Cook & James culture, so we’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Besser has spent the majority of her career as a real estate attorney in the Columbia, S.C. area and has deep experience with the at-home solution. She holds both her undergraduate and her Doctor of Law (J.D.) degrees from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and sits on that organization’s Real Estate and Animal Law Committees.

An avid proponent for animal rescue and advocacy, she uses her professional capabilities as a district leader for the Humane Society of the United States, working to advance federal, state and local animal protection legislative priorities. She also enjoys providing for rescued and fostered animals in her care. When Besser isn’t devoting her time to animals, she enjoys yoga, the outdoors, and being a doting aunt to her brand new niece.

The firm will hold a grand opening celebration on Monday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the new office location: 220 Heritage Walk, Woodstock, GA 30188. For more information about the celebration, contact [email protected].
