Auditions: Disney’s The Lion King, Jr
June 18, 2019This summer the Arts Center of Kershaw County is excited to bring you Disney’s The Lion King, Jr.! This incredible youth production will be the first-ever production sponsored by the Sam Wright Scholarship Fund.
Sam Wright is an actor and singer from Camden, South Carolina. He is best known as the voice of Sebastian in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, for which he provided the main vocals to “Under the Sea.” Wright also played the part of Mufasa in the original cast of The Lion King on Broadway. Through the funding in his name, kids from Kershaw County will be able to participate in a two-week long Theatre Intensive, which will wrap with full productions of the play.
Disney’s The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world. The African savannah will come to life on the Wood Auditorium stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle…and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
This Theatre Intensive will be held Monday through Friday, July 15th – 31st, 2019. Rising 2-3 Graders will participate from 9:00am – 12:00pm and rising 4-10 Graders will participate from 9:00am – 2:00pm. Performances will be August 2nd – 4th, 2019, at the Arts Center!
You must audition to participate. Auditions will be held in the Wood Auditorium on June 24th and June 25th at 6:00pm.
