South Carolina federal sponsors sea turtle’s recovery at SC aquarium
June 26, 2019South Carolina Federal Credit Union announces the arrival of Blue, a 206 lb., adult male loggerhead sea turtle who is being rehabbed at the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care CenterTM.
Blue was found entangled in a crab pot rope and buoy in McClellanville. He was brought to the Sea Turtle Care Center on May 29th with significant damage to his front, left flipper, which had to be amputated due to the severity of the injury.
Now, Blue is in the aquarium’s ICU for sea turtles and is recovering from surgery. He is eating a high protein diet and enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation. The dedicated Sea Turtle Care Center team at the aquarium knows that he has a long road ahead of him but is pleased with his progress.
“We pride ourselves on Doing More Together, not just with our members but in our communities as well.” said Scott Woods, President and CEO of South Carolina Federal. “We’re sponsoring Blue’s recovery because we want to help the aquarium continue the lifesaving work they’re doing and raise awareness of our local sea turtle population and sustainability efforts surrounding it.”
South Carolina Federal’s sponsorship benefits the Sea Turtle Care Center and provides reusable tote bags, helping in the fight against plastic pollution in our waterways.
