Experience Columbia SC welcomes new Director of Events

Experience Columbia SC announced the addition of Meredith Merritt as the Director of Events for the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
A native South Carolinian, Merritt comes to CMCC from SMG/Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, where she also served as director of events. She is proficient at executing a variety of events in complex organization settings and working in fast-paced energetic environments while managing successful and engaged employees. She is a Certified Meeting Planner and graduate of Venue Management School. Merritt said she is looking forward to contributing to the outstanding impact the venue has on the city and state.
“The enthusiasm and passion for great events and guest experiences at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center is something I share, and I am very excited to be a part of an amazing team,” Merritt said. “I am looking forward to working with the entire team and to continuing the successful standard of events at CMCC.”
Merritt joins a convention center that celebrated its 3-millionth visitor in May. South Carolina’s only downtown convention center is a 142,500 square foot facility that includes a 16,700 square foot ballroom, 18,560 square feet of meeting space that can be broken into up to 18 different spaces, and a 23,700 square foot exhibit hall. Events range from receptions to galas, corporate functions and international trade shows.
