Global Eco Adventures (GEA) is offering a unique opportunity for legal professionals to earn continuing legal education (CLE) credit, this year. The program – ENVIRONMENTAL LAW & GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE SYMPOSIUM – will be held in the Galapagos islands, Dec. 3-7, 2019.

Facilitated in collaboration with the American Bar Association’s (ABA) International Law Section and the Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ (USFQ), a private liberal arts university located in Quito, Ecuador; the symposium will be held on USFQ’s Galapagos campus on San Cristóbal, Galapagos. Field trips will also be conducted to nearby Punta Pucana, Kicker Rock, Galapaguera, and El Junco.

“This is once in a lifetime journey to the famed Galapagos islands where student-guests will enjoy all the wonders of Darwin’s isolated paradise on earth and at the same time earn a full 16 hours of CLE credit for record,” says GEA pres., attorney, and global expedition leader Tom Mullikin. “Here on beautiful San Cristóbal, you will see and quite literally be surrounded by some of the most unique wildlife species on the planet.”

Mullikin, also a professor at USFQ and at Coastal Carolina University who has for years conducted extensive research during his many travels to the Galapagos, will teach the CLE credit courses, and guest lectures will be presented by Dr. Diego Quiroga and Dr. Alex Hearn.

The CLE credit courses will include:

– International Legal Framework for Global Climate Change
– Global Climate Change Solutions: Mass v EPA; Law Science and Public Participation
– Global Sea Level Rise
– Clean Energy
– The Role of the United Nations and International Agreements affecting Climate Change and Our Future
– Global Risks: Measuring the Environmental Regulatory, Energy, Corporate and Litigation Risks
– Natural Disasters: Effective Government Preparation and Response
– Ethical Issues in Multidisciplinary Representation

Guest lectures will include:

The Dec. symposium is an educational forum to teach participants about the unique ecosystems of the Galapagos Islands with a curriculum that also includes annual certifications for legal continuing education.

GEA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that seeks to create awareness of environmental sustainability through education of protected areas that are considered natural phenomena with exceptional aesthetic importance and fragile ecosystems for future generations.
