City of Hartsville opens outdoor basketball court
July 30, 2019The City of Hartsville Parks and Recreation Department has opened an outdoor basketball court on the campus of Byerly Park located at 701 West Washington Street. This court is open daily from Dawn to Dusk and is free to the public. This court was a vision brought forth by the City of Hartsville’s Parks Committee and funded by The Byerly Foundation and the City of Hartsville.
Adam Bedard, City of Hartsville Parks and Recreation Manager says, “This outdoor basketball court is a great addition to our facilities at Byerly Park. Since the court has been finished, we have witnessed many pick-up basketball games and people of all ages and abilities coming out to enjoy the court.” Richard Puffer, Executive Director of the Byerly Foundation noted, “The basketball court at the Coach T.B. Thomas Center looks like a great addition to our recreational options in Hartsville. I was by the day it opened and there were lots of players enjoying themselves.” In addition to the full court basketball court, there is also a set of bleachers court-side for spectators. Residents are encouraged to check out the new addition to Byerly Park.
