August At-Large Open House | August 14

WHO: Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine and Councilman Howard Duvall, Jr.

WHAT: Citizens are encouraged to make an appointment to meet with Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine and Councilman Howard Duvall, who both represent the at-large seats on City Council.

WHEN: Wednesday, August 14, 2019; 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: City Hall, 1737 Main St., Columbia, SC 29201

Clear the Shelters

WHAT: Columbia Animal Services will be hosting a Clear the Shelter adoption special. Adoptions for all animals will be free.

U.S. Census Bureau to Host Another Job Fair Aboard The SC DEW Coach

Every ten years, the U.S. Census Bureau is responsible for conducting the nationwide census. While the next census itself will be taken in 2020, the Census Bureau is already recruiting to fill important positions to begin work in August 2019. Individuals interested in applying can go on the 2020Census.gov/jobs website to apply immediately. These jobs have flexible hours and pay $14.50 to $15.50 an hour plus mileage. These positions will be responsible for confirming the addresses of all dwellings well ahead of the 2020 schedule of enumeration (“Census takers”) next year.

U.S. Census Bureau will be having a job fair aboard the SC DEW Career Coach Parked in front of City Hall. They will be answering all questions and helping people apply online on August 26, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The SC DEW Career Coach will include computer and internet capabilities for up to 10 people at a time. Individuals will be guided through the application process, approximately 15 minutes and a background check will be conducted at a later date. No resumes necessary. Please have access to your email for an external confirmation.

The Board of Zoning Appeals meeting will take place on August 13, 2019, at 10 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.

 

Design and Development Review Commission 

The Design and Development Review Commission meeting will take place on August 8, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall

 

City Council Meeting

On August 6, 2019 City Council will ONLY hold a meeting starting at 2:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

On August 20, 2019 City Council will hold work session starting at 2:00 p.m. and a City Council Meeting at 6:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers.
