LS3P welcomes William Schlein, AIA, Healthcare Practice Leader

LS3P welcomed William “Willy” Schlein, AIA, who joins the firm as Healthcare Practice Leader. Schlein brings over 25 years of healthcare experience in programming, planning, design, project management, and construction. His previous professional experience includes roles as Director of Healthcare Architecture, Principal, and Office Director at firms in South Carolina, Texas, California, and Arizona; he was also President and Founder of Anthrotects, a firm he established to design the keystone services of a new “medical city “ featuring a 300 bed hospital, cancer center, and MOB now under construction in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Schlein will lead LS3P’s firmwide healthcare team, offering expertise and support to all eight offices. LS3P’s Chief Practice Officer Katherine Peele, FAIA, sees Schlein’s role as integral to the growth of this expanding market. “Willy brings significant in-depth knowledge of the rapidly evolving healthcare industry,” Peele explains. “He brings a unique perspective and world-class expertise to our team, and we are excited to work with him on elevating our practice in this critical practice area.”
Schlein, who holds a Master of Architecture + Health Studio from Clemson University as well as a BA from the University of Georgia, is a frequent conference speaker and presenter on a variety of healthcare design topics. He is also actively engaged in professional and community leadership, with service including the Vision 5 Advisory Board of the Washington DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development for the McMillan Reservoir, a new healthcare campus in an underserved community of DC; Board of Directors and Education Chair of the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health; and Founding Chairman of the AIA South Atlantic Region Architecture for Health Inaugural Conference.
