Greenville Tech students and professor capture criminal justice awards

Assistant Professor Cassie Walls and five of her students, representing the Criminal Justice program at Greenville Technical College, received the overall conference trophy at the American Criminal Justice Association Lambda Alpha Epsilon Region V Conference held recently in Tallahassee, Florida.

The overall award is presented to the group earning the most points in individual competitions. Garrett Robinson received four honors including first place in police management and juvenile justice, Kaitlin Abercrombie earned three awards with first place honors in corrections and LAE Knowledge, Andrew Watson earned a first place in criminal law along with two other honors, Eva Kantios received one award, and Elizabeth Lopez was honored in two categories. The students also placed in two team competitions. Assistant Professor Cassie Walls placed first in police management, corrections, and criminal law in the professional division.

Region V of Lambda Alpha Epsilon consists of 32 chapters in eight states. Objectives of the organization include improving criminal justice through educational activities, encouraging the establishment and expansion of higher education and professional training in criminal justice, and promoting high standards of ethical conduct, professional training, and higher education within the criminal justice field.

Greenville Technical College’s Criminal Justice program prepares students for entry-level positions within the criminal justice field and for further education by providing a comprehensive, experienced-based education. Graduates work in law enforcement, corrections, private investigation, corporate and industrial security, rehabilitation, and juvenile justice.
