LS3P’s Bryan Beerman, AIA wins Ball State University’s GOLD Award

LS3P congratulates Bryan Beerman, AIA, on receiving the 2019 Ball State University Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) Award, which was presented at the annual Alumni & Benefactors Recognition Dinner on Friday, October 18th in Muncie, Indiana.
Beerman, an architect at LS3P’s Greenville, SC office, graduated from Ball State with both a Master of Architecture (2015) and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (2013). Since joining the firm full-time in 2015, Beerman has worked on a broad, diverse portfolio of designs including civic, education, hospitality, and commercial mixed-use projects across the region, with an emphasis on master planning development and community-centered projects.
An advocate of improving urban environments through walkability and a thriving public realm, Beerman believes architecture plays as an integral role in strengthening a place’s vitality and economy. He brings these concepts to life through charrettes, sketching, and hand-rendering, which help to engage clients in authentic discussion about design and community. Most recently, he has been an instrumental team member on Charleston County’s Wando Mount Pleasant Library project; 511 Meeting Apartments in Charleston; and many mixed-use, office, and multifamily development studies.

Penney, FAIA, noted Beerman’s exceptional leadership skills, exemplary attitude, and outstanding commitment to professional and community engagement from his earliest days with the firm. “Bryan models the ideal of the architect as civic leader,” Penney said. “He balances high-performance contributions to the firm with his commitment to the community, the profession of architecture, and his alma mater, Ball State University. His work ethic and inherent thirst for learning have made him an integral part of our firm and our profession.”
Beerman was recognized for his extensive professional and community engagement as well as his service to the University. He recently served on AIA Charleston’s 2017-2019 Board of Directors and as Director of the Young Architects Forum, and has been an active member of the Charleston Resilience Network. He was also enrolled in the 2016-2017 AIA SC Leadership Development Academy, and he helped plan the Resilience by Design conference in 2016. Beerman served on the Board of Elders for Grace Lutheran Church in Summerville, SC where he was a Building Committee member, Stephen Minister, PR Board Director, Deacon, and choir member. He is also a member of Ball State University’s Department of Architecture Professional Advisory Board.
