City to host community charrette
November 1, 2019The City has retained Urban Design Associates (UDA), the firm that developed the recently-adopted Downtown Master Plan, to conduct a community charrette to help City staff, residents and property owners take a broader look at South Downtown, the area just south of the Central Business District, between the Church Street and Augusta Street corridors. The charrette will take place November 12-14 and will focus on street and trail networks, street character and circulation patterns, public spaces and transitions between mixed-use properties and single-family residences.
The first of two open house events will be held on Tuesday, November 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Greenville Water Community Room (517 W Washington Street) and will feature an interactive discussion with the consultants on neighborhood connectivity and integration. The second open house event, which will be held on Thursday, November 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Greenville Water Community Room, will begin with a formal presentation by UDA followed by roundtable discussions led by UDA and City staff.
At the conclusion of the charrette, UDA will develop a summary report, including drawings to illustrate the recommendations produced through the charrette process.
