Experience the Magic of the 30th Festival of Trees benefiting Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands Nov. 22-24

November 5, 2019

Festival of Trees, a Prisma Health Midlands Foundation signature fundraising event benefiting Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands, has brought 30 years of magical moments to our community and to patients and families treated at Children’s Hospital. Through Festival of Trees, millions of dollars in funding have been raised to purchase innovative technology, start programs and enhance services offered to patients and families at Children’s Hospital. The 30th Festival of Trees, presented by Aflac, will be held Nov. 22-24 at the South Carolina State Museum, 301 Gervais St., Columbia. Guests will have the opportunity to bid all weekend on decorated full size trees, tabletop trees and wreaths as well as menorahs and other holiday items.

Festival of Trees weekend will begin with a black-tie Auction Preview Friday, Nov. 22, 7-10 p.m. at the South Carolina State Museum. That evening, guests will have the first opportunity to bid on items in the silent auction. Reservations, $125 per person, include cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres by Blue Marlin Signature Catering. Auction Preview tickets can be purchased at FestivalofTreesColumbia.org.

“Santa & Me” will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., at the South Carolina State Museum. With the help of The Mad Platter team, children will create a “Dear Santa” holiday plate featuring the child’s handprint. Santa & Me includes the keepsake plate and a ticket to “The Polar Express” at the Rev. Dr. Solomon Jackson, Jr. 4D Interactive Theater at the museum, a 5″x7″ photo with Santa and unlimited rides on the indoor train. Santa & Me tickets are $30 per child at FestivalofTreesColumbia.org.

Festival of Trees will be open to the public, with no admission fee, on Sunday, Nov. 24, 12-4 p.m. Entertainment groups will perform, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos. The “Mascot Madness Parade,” a kids’ dance party with mascots, will be held at 1 p.m. The silent auction will close at 4 p.m.

Through Nov. 20, residents in Richland and Lexington counties can participate in Boxes & Bows, a special Festival of Trees campaign. For a donation of $50 to Children’s Hospital, mailboxes will be topped with beautiful swags made of live holiday greenery and topped with festive bows. Swags will be installed on mailboxes between Dec. 5 and 13. Purchase a Boxes & Bows swag at FestivalofTreesColumbia.org.
