Inaugural Holiday Market and Open House at Aurora Farms

November 13, 2019
On Friday, November 29, from 10am until 2pm, Aurora Farms is presenting an inaugural  “Holiday Market and Open House” event. This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to visit and tour Greenville’s newest event venue, while purchasing Christmas gifts from local crafters and vendors. Located at 1045 Milford Church Road, Taylors, SC,  Aurora Farms is just 11 miles northeast of downtown Greenville.
.
On “Black Friday” twenty-two crafters and vendors will grace the venue with life-long creativity and the love of community. One of the crafters who will be sharing his expertise is local chair caner, David Ammons.  His story of producing this traditional craft began early.  He says, “Grandpa Ammons made his own chairs. I watched in awe as a child as he wove his magic after carefully framing the chair piece by piece. I often wonder now why I didn’t ask him to teach me when I was that 8-year-old watching. I just sat there drinking in each movement of his strong, yet gentle, hands. All of this came back to me in 1975 when I sat looking at one of Grandpa’s chairs. I told my wife, Sherilyn, I thought I could recreate Grandpa’s movements that I remembered so well. I found an old chair frame and some split oak splints and the rest is history.”  David will have sets of hand-caned chairs for visitors to perusal and purchase.
.
Artist C. Brooke Ring will be on hand to share her artwork. She says, “ My work is to communicate joy and capture a lighthearted playful attitude.”  Brooke holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Furman University where she graduated in 2012. Her work is influenced by her background in Graphic Design and centers around the theme of femininity. Brooke is best known for her colorful floral arrangements; however, she also enjoys painting coastal scenes and figurative paintings.
.
Sisters Ashleigh Howard and Holly Goshorn will also be providing great expertise for  this special occasion.  Ashleigh, the venue’s baker, will have a table loaded down with holiday homemade candy, plus a booth with her new makeup line, Limelife by Alcone.  Holly, the venue’s photographer, will have a Christmas backdrop setup for a photo opportunity for you and your family and an additional option of ordering a personalized Christmas ornament made with your very own holiday photo.
.
Brenda Thompson of Art-Z Girls says of her crafts… “I have done all types of crafting since I was 5 years old. For the past 20 years, any money our organization makes is donated to the rescue of KitsNKats, a 501(c)(3)20, adopted out of PetSmart locations. We now have three  retired ladies and do this to help raise money for our babies, vetting, etc.  We have beautiful wreaths, floral arrangements, and many other crafts. Please stop by our booth.”
.
Other artisans will be offering holiday decorations and handmade gifts consisting of woodworks (even an opportunity to personalize your wood purchases), knitted items, signs, tumblers, candles, wreaths, florals, handmade jewelry & Paparazzi jewelry, calligraphy, home decor, historical novels & children’s books, essential oils, dog biscuits & honey products,  Thirty-One bags & purses, Color Street-Nails, and even good times experiencing a touch screen mirror photo booth.
.
Aurora Farms will open its doors at 10am on November 29th. We invite one and all to come start your Christmas shopping experience with us…and share some hot cider and hot chocolate out on our patio. “We are excited to provide this new event for the local crafters and the community,”  says Yvonne Fortner, co-owner.
