Popular free concert series returns to groove into the holidays

Chaye Alexander presents Live at Boyd Plaza: A Jazzy Afternoon

The Columbia Museum of Art announces a holiday addition to its dynamic, free outdoor concert series on the beautifully renovated Boyd Plaza. The incredibly popular Chaye Alexander presents Live at Boyd Plaza returns Sunday, December 8, for a jazzy afternoon with Mike Frost and Company.

Live at Boyd Plaza features an impressive group of musicians and vocalists known for their vast repertoire of tunes and crowd-pleasing performances. Concertgoers will enjoy songs of the holiday season jazzed up and blended with hints of soulful, funky rhythms from the inimitable Mike Frost and Company featuring singer and saxophonist extraordinaire Lauren Meccia.

In addition to being a bassist and bandleader, Frost is a composer, studio musician, educator, recording engineer and designer, and owner and sound engineer of Spirit Studio in Aiken, South Carolina. The Mike Frost Band has become a jazz staple in the Carolinas and beyond, regularly appearing on stage in California and in Frost’s native New York.

Alexander — creative producer, former broadcast talent, and owner of the popular performance venue Chayz Lounge — has provided avenues for musicians to be seen and heard for decades. She began her career as a radio personality in New York City, where she won the hearts of listeners with her musical eclecticism and warm, charismatic demeanor. Her success in radio led to opportunities in television production, where she worked both behind and in front of the camera. Alexander continues to shine light on talent each week via the sold-out shows at Chayz Lounge, making her uniquely qualified to lead this concert series.
