The Oyster Roast benefiting Prisma Health Cancer Centers is Feb. 1

The Oyster Roast, an annual event hosted by The Cavalry, a young donors society of Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, on the historic grounds of Grovewood Plantation, 1992 Congaree Road, Eastover, S.C.
Proceeds from The Oyster Roast, presented by Nelson Mullins, benefit Prisma Health Cancer Centers, one of the largest cancer programs in the Southeast. More than 3,000 patients are diagnosed and treated each year at the Cancer Centers.
At The Oyster Roast, guests will enjoy masterful Lowcountry creations from Capital City Catering and live folk music by Columbia natives, Ashley and Travis Wright. Tickets include oysters, barbecue, beer and wine. Tickets, available at TheOysterRoast.org, are $40 per person, $75 per couple and $200 for a party pack of six tickets. Guests will have the opportunity to select a mystery bag filled with wine or craft beer for a $20 donation. Sponsorship opportunities for The Oyster Roast are available.
The Cavalry is comprised of individuals and couples age 40 and under, who support high-priority equipment, program and service needs of Prisma Health Cancer Centers. Mary Ellen and Brian Barnwell, co-chairs of The Cavalry, host The Oyster Roast each year at their home, Grovewood Plantation. After losing her mother to ovarian cancer, Mary Ellen and Brian turned their loss into hope for cancer patients and their families in the Midlands.
“Cancer may have taken my mother, but it is limited. It cannot take away hope. It cannot take away memories. It cannot suppress courage,” said Mary Ellen. “We are forever grateful for the care my mother received in Atlanta and want to assist the cancer community here in Columbia, the city we call home.”
