Strong community spirit Leads to successful Christmas season for The Salvation Army of the Midlands

February 2, 2020

The Salvation Army of the Midlands raised over $255,000 with their 2019 Red Kettle Campaign. This campaign is the largest fundraiser all year. These funds support our programs to combat homelessness, helplessness and hardship in our community.

Through the Angel Tree program, Christmas assistance was provided to 1,035 families and 2,535 children in the Midlands. Children woke up Christmas morning with stockings, toys, bikes and clothes who otherwise would have had nothing.

To everyone who gave at the red kettle, adopted an angel, contributed at the Stuff-A-Bus events, or gave toys at any of the toy drive locations, you are helping in “Doing The Most Good” in our community and The Salvation Army of the Midlands thanks each one of you!

During this Christmas season, 1,900 volunteers provided more than 5,300 volunteer hours. Because of this tremendous volunteer support, Christmas was very merry for so many families that struggle with poverty every day. This is truly an example of a giving community that reaches out to extend kindness and generosity to its neighbors.

With 2020 vision, The Salvation Army of the Midlands, with the support of so many volunteers, businesses, donors, media and Advisory Board members, will work hard to meet the needs of those who struggle in our community with gifts of healing and hope.

Again, The Salvation Army of the Midlands thanks you for a wonderful 2019 Christmas season!

Sincerely,

Major Henry Morris
