Clemson College of Business names Carl Hollingsworth, Ph.D., associate dean

Carl Hollingsworth has been named associate dean, academic affairs, of the College of Business at Clemson University.

Dean Wendy York said in his leadership position, Hollingsworth will be a major contributor to business education’s role in advancing Clemson University’s rise in educational excellence and relevance.

“The College is fortunate to have someone of Carl’s caliber in this role,” York said of Hollingsworth, who has served as interim associate dean since December of 2017. “I look forward to working closely with him as the College executes on its strategic plan aimed at shaping business-ready graduates capable of leading in a dynamic, global economy.”

Hollingsworth assumes the permanent position immediately and serves on the College Leadership Team. As associate dean of academic affairs he manages daily administrative and academic operations of the dean’s office, including assessment of academic outcomes as well as providing leadership in undergraduate and graduate education within the College.

Hollingsworth, who joined Clemson University in 2007, served five years as coordinator of the Master’s of Professional Accountancy program for the College of Business prior to his role as interim associate dean.

He also has extensive corporate experience, having worked for PricewaterhouseCooper in Fort Worth, Texas, from 1997-2000 and in the Dallas office of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, Inc., from 2000-03. He received Bachelor of Business Administration and master’s degrees from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
