Resilient Columbia rolls out pledge program packets to over 200 businesses

Over 200 local businesses participated in the drive-through event today, Wednesday, June 17, 2020 held in parking lot between City Hall/Richland County Courthouse (1700 Block of Main Street). This event was to invite and recognize local business owners that have implemented safety strategies and protocols in compliance with recommendations by the CDC and DHEC due to COVID-19.
The City of Columbia was able to give pledge program packets that included Resilient Columbia Pledge signage and other materials for their business, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for distribution to their employees and/or patrons, and one container of Hydrolyte®, an environmentally safe, non-toxic, EPA registered disinfectant.
We would like to thank Paradigm Convergence Technologies, LTD and Tree of Life SC, LLC for donating the PPE and Hydrolyte ® to the City of Columbia for distribution to our local business partners that are reopening responsibly.
“It’s incredible and so encouraging to see 229 of our local Columbia businesses, including restaurants, bakeries, barber shops and hair salons, professional service organizations, retail stores, doctor’s offices, cleaning services, hotels and so many others modeling their operations to meet the requirements of the Resilient Columbia Pledge Program,” said Mayor Steve Benjamin. “These responsible business owners have shown that during this pandemic, to be pro-business first requires being pro-health, and they are dedicated to the safety of their staff members, customers and clients. As more businesses scale toward pandemic resistance and take the Resilient Columbia pledge, we can move closer to ending the spread of COVID-19 across our Midland’s communities.”
