Open-Air Job Fair a Success; Several Laurens County Industries Participate

October 16, 2020

The open-air Job Fair hosted by the Upper Savannah SC Works System in downtown Fountain Inn on Thursday, October 15th was a tremendous success. Over 201 job seekers attended and 24 companies/industries participated in the fair, several of which were from Laurens County—like our newest industry, Meiden America Switchgear.

One employer alone reported speaking with around 80 job seekers, which in turn yielded 15 interviews. The job fair also had a visit from the SC Career Coach, a mobile SC Works center that specializes in serving rural areas with limited access to internet, disaster response and onsite company rapid response. The mobile center has been to 44 out of our 46 counties in SC since being put into service. Yesterday’s attendees used the Career Coach to apply for SC Works services, print additional resumes, and more.
