New space a response to Amplify Columbia cultural plan recommendations

One Columbia for Arts and Culture is proud to announce that it is establishing a shared cultural space in the North Columbia area at 1013 Duke. The building is the former home to Indie Grits Labs. One Columbia has partnered with three arts organizations to continue to facilitate cultural experiences in the North Columbia community. Going forward, this space will be known as the 1013 Co-Op.

Over the next few months One Columbia, Columbia Children’s Theatre, the Jasper Project, and The Magic Purple Circle presented by artist and storyteller Darion McCloud will be setting up offices and shared spaces for collaboration and community connection around the arts.

“Launching 1013 Co-Op is a silver lining in an incredibly difficult year for Columbia’s arts and culture organizations and our entire community,” states Kristin Morris, the chair of the One Columbia Board of Directors. “This space continues our momentum on several of the recommendations from the Amplify Cultural Plan. We look forward to growing the space and having more gatherings in the North Columbia neighborhoods when public health recommendations allow. Our main office on Taylor Street has been a meeting space for many impactful organizations and we are excited to see how our partners at 1013 Co-Op continue to grow and benefit our community.”
