OneSpartanburg, Inc. named Carolinas Outstanding Chamber of the Year

OneSpartanburg, Inc. was recognized as the 2020 Outstanding Chamber of the Year by the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE) on Friday.
The award, announced at the annual CACCE Management Conference via Zoom, recognizes an organization’s significant achievements or accomplishments initiated, stimulated and/or led in its area during the past 18 months.
The CACCE selection committee noted the measurable results stemming from the organization’s countywide business, tourism and economic development efforts. Additionally, the re-imagining of all the development efforts into one streamlined and efficient entity was noted to be best in class. The nationally-recognized and data-oriented Bringing Back the Burg business recovery initiative to counter the economic impact of COVID-19 factored heavily into the committee’s final decision.
“OneSpartanburg, Inc. is grateful for the recognition but wholly acknowledges nothing has been accomplished without our many public and private partners. This recognition is just as much theirs as it is ours,” said OneSpartanburg, Inc. President and CEO Allen Smith.
CACCE recognizes two outstanding chambers each year, an organization with less than 700 members and an organization with more than 700 members. Using a scoring method, the CACCE board of directors recognized OneSpartanburg, Inc. as the winner of the larger category. CACCE represents 129 organizations throughout North and South Carolina.
Founded in 1918 amidst a pandemic, OneSpartanburg, Inc. – then known as the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce – brought business leaders together. Over the next 102 years, the organization evolved, adding both tourism and economic development functions to its operations, eventually leading to a name change, made official on Sept. 1.

The organization was formed in 1994 when the North Carolina and South Carolina state chamber associations merged.
