Chernoff Newman promotes three long-term senior leaders

December 21, 2020

To mark the closing of an unprecedented year, Chernoff Newman is announcing the promotion of three long-term employees on its senior leadership team. The integrated marketing communications agency has offices in the Carolinas and Florida and serves clients across the U.S. in food and beverage, health care, energy, financial services, insurance, real estate, education and workforce development.

Prussia George, Elizabeth Wynn and Amanda DeWeese have nearly 50 years combined with the agency, serving as a testament to their extensive experience and knowledge of the company, its clients and their respective fields. After more than two decades with Chernoff Newman, Prussia George has been promoted to chief financial officer, overseeing the financial actions of the agency’s footprint. Elizabeth Wynn will step into the vice president of client engagement role and Amanda DeWeese will become the vice president of public relations, each advancing over the years from the entry-level seats they stepped into nearly 15 years ago.

“Trends in workforce development have shown an uptick in the number of jobs individuals have throughout their careers, with average workers having as many as 12 jobs in their lifetime,” said Lee Bussell, chairman and CEO for Chernoff Newman. “We are proud to recognize our team members who defy this trend and we’re grateful for their long-standing dedication to our agency, our clients and the outstanding work they deliver.”

Beginning her career at Chernoff Newman as an accounting temp, Prussia George led the financial restructure to transition the agency to a robust software-driven financial management platform, earning the controller title she held for many years. She manages many of the reporting systems currently used in the budgetary management of multiple clients including South Carolina Education Lottery and South Carolina Department of Agriculture. As CFO, George leads all financial matters for the agency’s accountings. She has a Master of Science in accounting from Liberty University and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, focusing on accounting.

Based in Columbia, Elizabeth Wynn started at the agency as an intern in 2007 and worked her way up the ladder from account coordinator to account manager to account supervisor and director of client engagement. As VP of client engagement, she will manage the account service team across all four offices. Wynn is a graduate of Leadership Columbia, a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business.

Amanda DeWeese, APR, started her agency career with Carolina Public Relations & Marketing in Charlotte in 2005, and became a Chernoff Newman team member when the firm joined with Chernoff Newman five years ago. Beginning as an administrative coordinator 15 years ago, she’s moved her way up over the years to now leading the agency’s PR and social media team across all four offices. A College of Charleston graduate, DeWeese earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2011 and served as president of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Charlotte Chapter in 2014.
