Lady Devils shut out Jackets 6-0

The Clinton and Union girls started Friday nights Varsity match more like a game of tennis with long back and forth kicks.
It took the Lady Devils until the backside of the 1st half to get their feet under them, but when they did they really did. Lauren Wargo posted a 1st half hat trick with assists from Morgan Benson (2) and Reese Gowan (1). After the halftime break Clinton came out playing a high quality match with effective passing leading to 3 more goals by Benson, Gowan, and Pysell.
The defensive side of the field didn’t see a lot of action but when they did they limited Union to 1 shot on goal for the match. Keepers Lindsey Pysell and Rachel Vondergeest shared duties in the net which allowed Lindsey to move forward and score her 4th goal of the year. The defensive efforts were highlighted by Freshman Evelyn Parra-Hernandez and her relentless pressure from her defensive mid position which earned her the Golden Cleat for defense. Wargo took home the honors for the attacking half again.
