LCSO Jail & Bail Fundraiser Raises Record Amount
May 24, 2021The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office held their Third Annual Jail and Bail event on Friday, May 21st and by all accounts it was a huge success.
Community leaders, business owners and volunteers worked together to arrest 35 people who then had the arduous task of raising their bail money. Laurens Ace Hardware and Holman Printing were sponsors of the event.
In prior years the event has raised $10,000-$15,000. Reports from this years’ event indicate that over $10,000 in cash was raised on the day of the event with an additional $8,000 pledged, making the total raised over $18,000.
“This Jail and Bail was our best yet. We appreciate each and every participant who showed up to support our Christmas for Kids program. We are especially thankful for each donor, said Deputy Courtney Snow, Public Information Officer and Christmas for Kids Coordinator. “This program would not be what it is without the generosity of this community. One thing is for sure- Laurens County takes care of each other. “
During the Jail & Bail event, 35 people were arrested and then released once they met their bail obligation. For the second time, Mr. Eddie Marshall, principal of Joanna Woodson raised the most money of any individual at over $2000.
Well done Laurens County, well done!
