Columbia Museum of Art announces participation in Museums for All

The Columbia Museum of Art announces that it has joined Museums for All, a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), to encourage all people to visit museums regularly and build a lifelong love of museum-going. The program supports those receiving food assistance (SNAP) benefits visiting the CMA with free admission for up to four people with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. Museums for All is part of the CMA’s broad commitment to seek, include, and welcome all audiences.

“We are delighted to be participating in Museums for All,” says CMA Executive Director Della Watkins. “Removing barriers and hosting inviting experiences are our promises to all who wish to visit the CMA.”

The South Carolina State Museum and EdVenture Children’s Museum are also participants in Museums for All. With the addition of the CMA, Columbia is now considered a hub city for the program. It is the 49th such hub city overall and the second in South Carolina.

Museums for All helps expand access to museums and also raise public awareness about how museums in the U.S. are reaching their entire communities. More than 700 institutions participate in the initiative, including art museums, children’s museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums, and more. Participating museums are located nationwide, representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
