AllSouth hosts food drive to benefit Harvest Hope

August 4, 2021

As the world slowly starts to open up and the economy begins to recover, food insecurity continues to be a major issue facing our community. To help meet this growing need, AllSouth Federal Credit Union will host a food drive to help “Take a Bite out of Hunger.” The food drive will begin Monday, August 9, and continues through Friday, August 20. AllSouth locations will serve as donation drop-off sites during the drive. You can donate items at any of AllSouth’s 22 locations around the Midlands. AllSouth welcomes donations from the community. For a list of AllSouth locations, please visit the AllSouth website: https://www.allsouth.org/hours-locations.

These items are the most needed:

• Non-perishable foods such as rice, pasta, beans (canned and dry), canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned meats, canned beans, canned meals (like Chef Boyardee or beef stew), macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, jelly (no glass, please), cereal, Ramen noodles, snacks, and more

• Baby supplies (diapers, wipes, formula, and food – no jars)

AllSouth Federal Credit Union believes in giving back to help improve the quality of life for the communities it proudly serves. “At AllSouth, we’re dedicated to addressing the needs facing our community by supporting local non-profits organizations, charities, and causes that reflect our shared value of supporting the military and those suffering from hunger, homelessness, and family crisis in the communities we serve,” said Bill Koehler, AllSouth President & CEO.

“AllSouth Federal Credit Union has been partnering with Harvest Hope in the fight against hunger for over 10 years,” says Erinn Rowe, Harvest Hope CEO. “We are thankful for all of the employees and patrons that join us in building a hunger-free tomorrow across South Carolina.” Harvest Hope is the largest food bank in South Carolina, whose mission is to transform lives in the communities they serve by feeding the hungry, addressing food insecurity and building a healthy and hopeful hunger-free tomorrow. Harvest Hope offers programs that provide food for children, seniors, and rural residents with limited access to grocery stores. They also partner with stores throughout the state to collect unexpired, safe, and edible food to distribute to shelters, food pantries, and soup kitchens. Harvest Hope operates emergency food pantries in Columbia and Greenville to provide a week’s supply of groceries at no cost to anyone in need.
