Credit One Stadium reaches a construction milestone
August 5, 2021The Credit One Stadium, formerly known as the Volvo Car Stadium, celebrates a pivotal construction milestone. During a topping out ceremony hosted by general contractor Choate Construction, project team members gathered within the demolished interior of the former stadium to watch as the last structural steel beam was lifted and set atop the future Credit One Stadium Stage House.
Extensive renovations to the Credit One Stadium commenced in Spring 2021. After four short months, the project team has assembled nearly 800 tons of structural steel and 160 tons of rebar.
“Our team has put in 50,000 man-hours to date on the Credit One Stadium project. We believe it is important to take a step back to acknowledge and celebrate what’s been accomplished and to thank the team for all their hard work and dedication to the project. In addition to thanking those involved, topping out celebrations historically signify the safe buildup of a structure and good luck for the remainder of construction,” says Andy Grayson, Senior Project Manager for Choate Construction.
The new stadium will feature a contemporary stadium façade to welcome and lead all spectators and guests to the spacious concourse, complete with updated restrooms, concession stations, and premium hospitality suites. The new stadium will take the shape of a bowl-like arena, offering stunning views from every seat.
Additions to the premier event venue include a modern, four-story stage house that includes everything from wellness facilities, premium locker rooms, exercise space, catering and food preparation areas to media and production rooms. Additionally, VIP suites will offer guests a panoramic overlook of the Center Court. Outside of the stage house, a large canopy within the Stadium will provide weather protection to the south side of the venue and serve as the stage covering for performers and musicians. The Credit One Stadium will be delivered in the Spring of 2022.
