Harvest Hope launches it’s Scary to be Hungry food drive
October 5, 2021Harvest Hope looks to community to help feed children facing hunger this fall
In the spirit of Halloween, Harvest Hope Food Bank is kicking off a “It’s Scary to be Hungry” food drive in hopes of raising awareness and collecting donations to help feed children facing hunger in the Midlands.
During the month of October, community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items such as microwavable pop-top Chef Boyardee, Easy Mac cups, Ramen noodle cups, Rice-A-Roni cups, individual oatmeal and grits packets, fruit cups and granola bars to help Harvest Hope feed children in need.
“Our youth have big dreams, but they can’t change the world if they’re hungry,” says Erinn Rowe, Harvest Hope CEO. “They need us, and fighting hunger is not something that Harvest Hope or any food bank can do alone.”

About Harvest Hope Food Bank
Harvest Hope is building a hunger-free tomorrow in 20 counties across South Carolina. Rescuing food from stores that is at risk of being discarded, as well as sourcing food from the community and producers, they distribute it to local food pantries and through multiple feeding programs. These programs provide food for some of SC’s most vulnerable citizens – children, seniors, and rural residents who don’t have access to reliable transportation to grocery stores. Annually, Harvest Hope provides over 22 million meals to neighbors in need across their service area.
