Laurens Mayor Senn to Present State of the City Address

February 2, 2022

Each year there is the State of the Union Address delivered by the President of the United States and the State of the Sate Address delivered by the Governor of South Carolina (and in other states by their governors).  This year in the city of Laurens, the first ever State of the City Address will be delivered by Laurens Mayor Nathan Senn.

An address of this type is used to provide a report on the current condition and the priorities for the coming year.

“Just as the President and Governor do, I would like to present my agenda for the coming year to the community in advance of our budget negotiations which will begin in March/April,” said Mayor Senn.

Additionally, Mayor Senn is planning to schedule some town hall meetings in the coming months to get community feedback.  He thought it would be appropriate to first share some of the initiatives that have already begun and provide a bit of context about the city’s current situation.

This is another first for the city of Laurens. The first time there has been a State of the City event.

“I hope the event will provide some clarity about where we spend, where we are, and where we have the potential to go,” said Mayor Senn.

In keeping with traditional “state of” events, the mayor will also recognize individuals who have provided exemplary service to the community, and who deserve the recognition of our city in Laurens County as a whole.

The State of the City Address will take place on March 15th at the Historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Laurens at 6:00 pm. Invitations will be sent to special guests and individuals who will be recognized. Any additional seats available will be open to the public. The event will be livestreamed to the public.
