Majority Whip Clyburn remarks on the importance of teaching “critical race facts”

February 10, 2022

U.S. House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn took to the House floor today for a Special Order Hour to deliver a Black History Month speech on the importance of not allowing the teaching of “critical race facts” to be targeted by those who misuse “critical race theory.” In his 35-minute remarks, Whip Clyburn discussed the significance of Black History Month and highlighted the contributions of some African Americans that are ignored, often intentionally, in our history books. Included in his speech were the contributions of five Black inventors: Lewis Latimer, Elijah McCoy, Garrett Morgan, Charles Drew, and Dr. Daniel Hale Williams.
