Sunbelt Business Brokers of the Carolinas announces sale of Woodley’s Garden Centers

April 18, 2022

Sunbelt Business Brokers announces the sale of Woodley’s Garden Center, with locations in Irmo and Northeast Columbia, to B.B. Barns, Inc, based in Asheville, North Carolina.

The company’s former owners, Rick and Liz Woodley, founded Woodley’s in 1981. Under their leadership, the business grew to be one of the Midlands’ most prominent garden centers. The company will now operate as B.B. Barns.

Thomas Gibson, whose father co-founded B.B. Barns, joined the family business in 2020 and became Chief Executive Officer in January of 2022. With the acquisition of Woodley’s Garden Center, B.B. Barns is now the Carolinas’ largest independent garden center.

“We see an exciting opportunity to build upon Woodley’s strong foundation,” said Gibson. “Being a company focused on superior service, great quality and lasting relationships, we are excited to bring our love for people and plants to the Columbia market.”

David Yezbak, of Sunbelt Business Brokers Columbia office, facilitated the sale.
