City of Laurens Announces Juneteenth Celebration

The City of Laurens recently announced a JUNETEENTH – CELEBRATE FREEDOM event scheduled for June 18th, 2022.

Juneteenth goes back to June 19th, 1865, when Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.

The celebration will include a vendor and craft fair from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and live entertainment from 12:00 – 9:00 p.m.
