Dance competition has $50K first prize

EL3VATE Convention and Dance Crew Competition is June 30-July 2
The EL3VATE Convention and Dance Crew Competition is offering cash prizes of $50,000 (first place), $25,000 (second place) and $12,500 (third place). The event will be held June 30 to July 2 at the historic Miller Theater in downtown Augusta.
“We are thrilled to bring together amazing artists and performers to enjoy each other’s talents at our very first EL3VATE Convention and Dance Crew Competition,” said Brodrick Mungo, the founder and CEO of Fusic365. “I can’t wait to see the awareness that this event will bring to the performing arts in our area and the opportunity for dancers to perform alongside professional artists.”
Dance Crew Competition registration and video is open until May 21. Online voting for video submissions will be May 23-28. Finalist will be notified May 29.
To enter, crews must consist of four to eight dancers. Register and submit a 1.5- to 2.5-minute video at fusic365.com/el3vate. Main competition is limited to dancers 16 and older, but the convention will be open to dancers 10 and older. There also will be a competition for 10- to 15-year-old dance teams to compete during the convention for an opportunity to perform at the Miller Theater during the Dance Crew Finals. The 10–15-year-old members of their perspective dance team must be registered for the convention.
Instructors and judges Include Augusta natives Kathryn McCormick, Christopher Wilson, and Stephen “Stevo” Jones. The Dance Crew Competition Finalist will be provided original music by producer Jimmy “Beatsbyjblack” Stanford.
