Freedom Fest Parade and Laurens Lights the Night

Laurens County knows how to celebrate and that’s exactly what happened over the Fourth of July weekend.

Sunday afternoon a parade with entries from across the County made the way down Main Street in Laurens and ended on the Public Square. Grandparents, parents and children of all ages lined the streets, waving flags as the parade went by. Presbyterian College President Matt vandenBerg, served as Grand Marshal of the parade.

Judges for the parade entries selected the City of Laurens float for third place, Laurens County“Keep America Beautiful “ won second and the American L.egion took first place.

Following the parade, members of the community settled in for an evening of patriotic music. Food vendors filled the Square and the rain held off.  After dark the crowd enjoyed more music with the light projection show which showcased the beauty of the historic courthouse.

Fireworks lit the sky as the perfect finale to a three day event that celebrated America.
