Non Profit Minute Minute – Lara Ceisel, Barbara Stone Foundation
August 1, 2022The Who’s on the Move, Non Profit Minute is an interview in support of the amazing impact that local non profits have on our communities.
We would like to thank our sponsors of this video series:
Lara Ceisel, Executive Director, Barbara Stone Foundation
The late Barbara Stone, a champion for individuals with disabilities, started a movement over fifty years ago that focused on improving the lives of individuals with disabilities living in Greenville. In 1991, she started a non-profit named the Barbara Stone Foundation which concentrates on connecting to, supporting, and creating innovative programs and initiatives for individuals with disabilities.
Every day, either a member of our community acquires a disability or a new family with an individual with a disability who needs resources or services moves to Greenville. The Barbara Stone Foundation assists those individuals in finding those resources and navigating through available services.
The Foundation’s primary focus is to influence community systems, policies, and culture to result in equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities. They do this by identifying gaps in the system, investing in or creating our own innovative programs, leveraging partnerships in the community and through their signature initiative – Greenville CAN – a multi-agency coalition focused on creating systemic community change through specific projects focused on people with disabilities. Through this multi-faceted approach, they believe they can achieve their vision of a community where all people with disabilities flourish.
Executive Director Lara Ceisel shares how the Barbara Stone Foundation is connecting, supporting, and creating opportunities and programs for individuals with disabilities and shares information about two big programs, the UP Employment Initiative and CAN Talks.
