Punt, Pass and Kick Off Math Challenge Celebration Part of Pregame at Clinton Game on Friday
September 21, 2022Plans are being finalized for a special pregame feature on the gridiron.
The Punt, Pass, and Kick Off for Math Challenge Celebration at Wilder Stadium on the campus of Clinton Middle School will take place on Friday, September 23 before the Clinton High School Red Devils play the Thoroughbreds of South Aiken High School.
The Punt, Pass, and Kick Off Challenge is a district developed challenge. In 5K – 5th grade students were asked to complete at least 10 lessons from Dreambox Learning. This is a district expectation to complete at least 5 lessons per week throughout the school year. The challenge ran from August 29th – September 9th. The purpose of the challenge was to get students excited about math and “kick off” Dreambox Learning in a big way. 4K students had a math packet to complete and turn in for their challenge in the same two-week span.
“We appreciate the support from our Instruction Department, Clinton High Athletics, and Laurens 56 Child Nutrition in making this become a reality,” said Eddie Marshall, Director of Federal Programs and Elementary Instruction. “We all work together to make sure that our students have memorable experiences because the experience matters! This was a way to reach students academically and have fun at the same time.”
The football game will begin at 7:30pm. All students and parents will have the opportunity to form a tunnel before the game for the players to run through (parents and students will need to be ready to enter the field at 7:15pm).
At halftime, they will line the side of the football field with students and their parents that have successfully completed the challenge. Students will be recognized at this time and the school with the greatest percentage of students meeting the challenge will be presented with a trophy sponsored by DreamBox. Representatives from DreamBox will be at the event to present the trophy.
The trophy will be passed around in the district as schools meet monthly goals throughout the year. DreamBox will also provide a gift card to one teacher at each school and the drawings for the gift cards will take place at halftime. All students will be admitted free, and parents and other family members will need to purchase tickets. There will be a special section for the students and their parents to sit in the stands. Students will be provided a t-shirt to wear to the game.
Laurens 56 had 651 students in 4K – 5th grade complete the Punt, Pass, and Kick Off for Math challenge and we are excited to be able to recognize these CHAMPIONS on September 23rd.
