We would like to thank our sponsors of this video series:
Cassandra Shea, CAMP KEMO Programs Coordinator
The goal of CAMP KEMO is to help families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders and to connect them with other families going through the same challenge. CAMP KEMO is a program of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands.
The flagship program under their umbrella of services is CAMP KEMO, a weeklong summer camp experience, in a medically safe, fun environment for families and young patients navigating childhood cancer and blood disorders. This summer camp was started in 1980 by nurse, Linda Wells.
CAMP KEMO also offers a whole range of year-round, psychosocial support to the families and children affected by cancer and blood disorders. These programs are designed to provide emotional support from the moment of diagnosis through the end of treatment and beyond. This includes late effects clinics for long term survivors and bereavement support for families whose children do not survive. CAMP KEMO Programs are fully funded with community support.
