$10K Grant Will Support Richland Library’s Social Justice Efforts

Richland Library is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from Dominion Energy for our Let’s Talk Race programming. The grant is part of the company’s social justice fund created in 2020 in response to the death of George Floyd and other Black Americans. The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation is providing funding.

In 2020, Dominion Energy committed $5 million to organizations and programs supporting social justice, equality, and community rebuilding. The company also committed $25 million to 11 historically Black colleges and universities and $10 million to Educational Equity scholarships benefiting minority students.

Since the establishment of their Social Justice Fund, Dominion Energy has awarded Richland Library Let’s Talk Race team $55,000.

The library’s Let’s Talk Race team, has received national recognition for its efforts to create civic engagement, build community connections and engage in courageous conversations. Established in 2016, the team consists of diverse staff members who have received training to lead discussions on race, bias, inclusivity and equality.

Richland Library continues to be at the forefront to keep residents talking, listening and learning more about themselves and others.
