LCSO New Evidence Facility Now Open
May 15, 2023Last week the Laurens County Sheriff’s office held the ribbon cutting for the new evidence facility located at 150 Templeton Road in Laurens.
The building was much needed as the prior facility was in great disrepair for many years. The new facility was funded in part by the Capital Project Sales Tax.
“I am so pleased with our new facility. This has been a long time coming and was much needed,” said Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds. “I am glad to have a secure and safe location for evidence and our evidence custodians. Thank you to the CPST committee for making this happen.”
The new facility is in use as of this week and has the capacity to store twice the amount of the older building. All evidence will be stored in the facility that is equipped with:
- Drying cabinet
- Fingerprint fuming machine
- Fuming chamber
- Storage racks on rail system
“I am excited as this is the first CPST project to be fully completed. This would not have been possible without the support of Laurens County voters and those who shop here in the county. The Sheriff’s Office was in much need of a facility that represents the professionalism this county strives to deliver. This new Evidence Center is state of the art and will allow deputies to properly process evidence and hopefully keep more criminals behind bars. I appreciate the Sheriff’s cooperation through out the project working with staff to insure we met the needs of his employees,” said County Council Chairman Brown Patterson. “This will be a facility that will serve Laurens County for decades to come.”
