City of Laurens Holds Memorial Day Service
May 29, 2023Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, is a federal holiday honoring and mourning U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the Untied States Armed Forces.
At noon on Memorial Day a crowd of 75 to 100 quietly gathered on the Public Square for a program to honor those who gave their lives in service of our nation.
“It is a privilege for us to be able to gather as a community on Memorial Day to honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,” said Laurens Mayor Nathan Senn. “Through remembrance and gratitude, we ensure their legacy lives on, inspiring us to protect and uphold the values they held dear.”
During the event there was a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the fallen. Let us never forget.
