Richland County sets training sessions for Community Impact Grants

June 22, 2023

Starting July 1, organizations can apply for more than $2M in funding

Richland County will soon accept applications for financial support from organizations that offer community-based programs and services.

County Council recently voted to make $2.18 million in Community Impact Grants available as part of the County’s FY 2024 budget. Starting July 1, organizations can apply for up to $50,000 for a single year of funding via ZoomGrants: www.zoomgrants.com/gprop.asp?donorid=2236&limited=4702.

The measure by Council is part of an effort to encourage organizations and agencies to continue offering innovative and needed services that enhance residents’ quality of life. Proposed projects must address the following criteria:

  • The activity meets service-type activities outlined in the organization’s mission, long-range plans, goals and objectives.
  • The activity, in whole or in part, provides opportunities for underserved populations in Richland County.
  • The activity provides solutions by way of systems or approaches that can prevent, mitigate or resolve individual, family or community problems.

Projects should address one or more of the following community issues:

  • Affordable housing
  • Education
  • Recreation
  • Health and safety
  • Workforce development
  • Food insecurity

The County’s Department of Budget Management will host two information and training sessions for organizations interested in applying for Community Impact Grants. The sessions will be in Council Chambers on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 2020 Hampton St., Columbia, at:

  • 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27
  • 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 28

Each session will cover the same information and material. Attendees will learn about the eligibility requirements and application process for the grants.

The County’s Community Impact Grant Committee will review applications, evaluating projects based on project summary, project impact, organizational background and budget. Organizations have until July 31 to apply.
