Scoops of Smiles: Ice Cream with a Cop to Bring Joy to Kids in the Community

July 23, 2023

In a delightful and tasty initiative, the Clinton Police Department (CPD) is partnering with Scoops on West Main to host an ice cream social on Wednesday, July 26 from 2-5:00 pm to foster positive relationships between kids and the men and women who serve and protect the community.

This unique event, a refreshing twist on traditional community policing efforts, brings together law enforcement officers and children in a fun and relaxed setting, all while enjoying everyone’s favorite treat – ice cream!

“Everyone is familiar with Coffee with a Cop and other such events to engage with adults and business owners,” said Clinton Police Chief Sonny Ledda. “We wanted to host an event to cater to our younger community members, the kids. The week before school starts is a great time to gather the kids and to remind them that we are here to help them in any way.”

At “Ice Cream with a Cop,” children get to meet and interact with police officers outside the conventional atmosphere of law enforcement. And a plus, kids 12 & under will receive a free scoop of ice cream during the event.

This relaxed setting allows kids to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their thoughts, and learning about the crucial role officers play in ensuring community safety. As they enjoy their favorite flavors of ice cream together, barriers dissolve, and both kids and cops discover common ground, bridging the gap that might otherwise have been difficult to traverse.

This is a great opportunity to beat the heat and enjoy some delicious ice cream.

See you at Scoops on West Main Wednesday from 2-5:00 pm.
