LC Touchdown Club Announces Player of the Week – Brett Young

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for week one, August 25th, the Player of the week is Brett Young of Clinton High School.
Young is a junior linebacker for the Clinton High School Red Devils and leads the defensive unit for Clinton High as the Red Devils defeated the Laurens Raiders by a score of 49 – 7 giving Clinton High School its third consecutive win over the Raiders.
Brett Young had seven tackles Friday night against Laurens. 3 tackles for a loss, 1 quarterback hurry, 1 quarterback sack and an interception to lead the Red Devil team in defense in most every category or Devil defensive chart points.
CHS Head Football Coach Corey Fountain quoted,“Brett cones to practice every day with a business like mindset and great effort! He was all over the field on defense Friday night against Laurens. He is a pleasure to coach.”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Brett on September 7th at the second Touchdown Club meeting of the year. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens. Player of the Week awards this year will be presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.
The September 7th meeting will feature the Presbyterian College Head Football Coach Steve Englehart before the Blue Hose play their home opener on September 9th versus Virginia University of Lynchburg.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
Featured speaker for the next TD Club meeting on Thursday, September 21st will be Newberry College Head Football Coach Todd Knight. Additionally, Player of the Week awards will be presented for the September 8 and 15 High School football games.
