With an origin in her public service as a former Assistant Attorney General, Tameika played a pivotal role in crafting domestic violence laws and best practices in South Carolina, highlighting her dedication to community safety. Her track record as the first member of the Columbia City Council to address gang violence and prevent youth violence underscores her tireless commitment to creating safer neighborhoods.
Even before she was the first African American female to be elected to City Council, Tameika’s remarkable career saw her become a founding partner for one of the first law offices run by black women in Columbia, SC, a testament to her pioneering spirit and commitment to diversity and inclusion. She has also been a tireless advocate for economic awareness among constituents, working closely with the city’s Office of Community Development to enhance the well-being and economic prospects of her community.
