LRADAC is searching for the next social media superstar for Red Ribbon Week video contest

October 9, 2023

LRADAC is searching for the next TikTok or Instagram superstar to show how to “Be Kind to Your Mind, Say No to Drugs” — a new public service announcement contest to help celebrate Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31. The PSA contest gives students a platform on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook to let them speak to their peers about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs—and how or why they avoid them. All K-12 students in Richland and Lexington Counties are encouraged to participate independently or as part of a team of 4 or less.

Video entries should highlight the healthy decisions that a young person makes daily, including positive activities and behaviors—and reasons why they decide to stay alcohol and drug-free.

Once all videos are prescreened by executive personnel, LRADAC’s social media followers will pick the top videos based on the “likes” they receive. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be chosen with prizes of $200, $125, and $75 Visa gift cards. LRADAC’s prevention team will “go live” on Facebook and Instagram to announce winners.

Video submissions should be in an MP4 or .MOV format or a screen record, and be creative! The deadline for video submissions is October 30. For a complete list of submission rules and to obtain a media release form to qualify, contact Kimberly Myers, LRADAC Prevention Specialist, at [email protected].
