HVAC Technician
November 12, 2023 LOCATION: Laurens 56 Maintenance Office/District Office
START DATE: TBD (probably late 2023 start date)

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Year-round
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and district pay scales
Qualifications:
High school diploma.
HVAC certification, EPA certification, universal licenses, required.
7-10 years’ experience as an HVAC technician, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must have experience with repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
Experience with repair and maintenance of commercial refrigeration, preferred.
SC Driver’s License.
Background and/or certification in electrical systems, preferred.
Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
Demonstrated ability to:
Multitask with little supervision or direction.
Use logic, reason, and knowledge to identify problems and solutions.
Work cooperatively and respectfully with team members, district staff and the public.
Essential Duties
Performs routine maintenance for HVAC systems in all district buildings to ensure they operate efficiently.
Maintains and repairs ductwork and thermostats to control HVAC systems.
Diagnoses electrical and mechanical faults.
Installs replacement parts on existing HVAC units.
Preferred ability to maintain and repair food service refrigeration equipment in district buildings.
Responds to emergencies, both during and outside regular hours, performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
Complies with district and industry safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Performs all other general maintenance duties as assigned.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with a multi-building organization.
Working knowledge of HVAC on large and small units, including split systems, self-contained systems, distribution systems, condensers, compressors, and with HVAC controls (building automation systems).
Knowledge of and skilled in using Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
Knowledge of and skilled in the tools, equipment and materials used in HVAC and refrigeration repair and maintenance.
Skilled in diagnosing and resolving HVAC and refrigeration problems.
Ability to use information technology devices and learn computer operations as required.
