SC Economics names new Executive Director

December 6, 2023

The South Carolina Council on Economic Education (dba SC Economics) has appointed Chandler Jordan as its new Executive Director. Chandler, who currently serves as the Program Director for SC Economics, will bring leadership, energy, and creativity to the organization as she continues to meet the needs of teachers and students across South Carolina.

As a former classroom teacher and South Carolina native, Chandler is an advocate for economics and personal finance education. She is proud to lead SC Economics and will continue to build relationships with teachers, administrators, educational leaders, and business leaders across the state.

Chandler will assume the role on January 1, 2024, managing day-to-day operations and creating a strategic plan and goals for the state’s only non-profit organization dedicated to economics and personal finance education.

Chandler’s passion for promoting economics and personal finance educational programs will help advance the mission and vision of the organization. Nikki Hutchison, Chair of the SC Economics Board of Directors, expressed her pleasure in the appointment, highlighting Chandler’s potential to contribute significantly to the organization’s goals and objectives. “Chandler has thrown herself into our mission of teaching teachers both economics and personal finance. She has considerable classroom experience and has gained the full support of the teaching community and educational leaders in the local, state, and national educational space. This credibility will continue to serve our organization as it grows over time.”

Chandler has extensive experience, including her tenure in the classroom, teaching Economics, AP Macroeconomics, American Government, and Leadership, as well as her academic background with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of South Carolina Upstate and an M.A.T. in Secondary Education from Converse College, positioning her to lead the organization effectively.

Chandler currently serves on the Leadership Columbia Advisory Board, the Board of the South Carolina Jump$tart Coalition, the South Carolina Financial Literacy Board of Trustees, a Council Representative for the National Association of Economic Educators, and is an active member of the Junior League of Columbia. She lives in Columbia with her husband, Keach, a Certified Public Accountant with Sheheen, Hancock, and Godwin, LLP.

The Board of Directors and team at SC Economics expresses sincere gratitude to Jim Morris, who has skillfully led the organization for over a decade and will be retiring on December 31, 2023.
