Community Schools and Citizens Rally to Support Local Children During the Holidays

American Legion Post 25 is spreading joy, one toy at a time. Post 25 recently concluded its annual Toy Drive, collecting an impressive array of toys for the children of Laurens. This year’s toy drive saw unprecedented generosity from Ford Elementary School, Sanders Middle School, EB Mores Elementary School, and compassionate citizens.

The success of the Toy Drive was evident in the overwhelming support received from the community, with donations ranging from traditional toys to the generous contribution of bicycles. Kevin Farnsworth, First Vice Commander of American Legion Post 25, expressed his gratitude, stating, “The response from our community this year has been truly remarkable. It’s heartening to see how everyone came together to make a positive impact on the lives of our local children.”

The collaboration between American Legion Post 25 and the community schools played a pivotal role in the success of the Toy Drive. Students and faculty from Ford Elementary School, Sanders Middle School, and EB Mores Elementary School embraced the spirit of giving, demonstrating the power of unity within the Laurens community. The schools’ commitment to instilling values of generosity and compassion in their students was evident as they actively participated in the collection of toys for their less fortunate peers.

One of the most notable aspects of this year’s Toy Drive was the inclusion of bicycles among the donated items. The community’s willingness to go above and beyond by contributing such gifts highlights the deep sense of empathy for others. The Toy Drive will bring great joy to the receiving children this Christmas.

All collected toys were donated to the Sheriff’s office and the City of Laurens Police Department, two organizations committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. In addition to the toy donations, American Legion Post 25 generously provided both agencies with a financial contribution of $1000 each. This monetary support will go a long way in assisting families in need, especially during the holiday season.

The Toy Drive organized by American Legion Post 25 continues to grow in scale and impact. The commitment from of the community, coupled with the efforts of American Legion Post 25 members, has turned this annual event into a beacon of hope for Laurens families facing challenges during the festive season.

Well done and thank you, American Legion Post 25. Your tireless efforts will bring smiles to many children this Christmas.
