Countybank, Greenwood Capital donate $1,500 to MODELS Academy

February 19, 2024

Officials from Countybank and Greenwood Capital Associates visited Piedmont Technical College’s Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood on Jan. 18, 2024, to present a donation of $1,500 to the college’s special initiative, MODELS Academy. MODELS is a holistic mentoring and personal development program for African American males in grades 4-12.

MODELS Director Steve Coleman said the donation will help support field trips to higher education campuses and cultural/historic sites, character development programs, community service projects, and much more.

“The generous support of businesses like Countybank and Greenwood Capital has enabled MODELS to grow exponentially, from an initial cohort of about 25 to more than 500 young Black men in 40+ schools throughout our service region,” Coleman said. “Nothing feels better than seeing our young charges stepping out into the world with their heads held high and attending higher education institutions like the University of South Carolina and Clemson. They are truly on their way!”

“MODELS Academy focuses on empowering the next generation,” said Walter Todd, president and CIO of Greenwood Capital. “We are grateful for the work they do to build leaders in our community.”
