8th Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo Launches Re-Election Campaign, Pledges Continued Commitment to Justice and Community Safety
March 27, 20248th Circuit Solicitor David M. Stumbo has formally declared his candidacy for re-election after filing last week at the South Carolina Election Commission offices in Columbia. Leading the 8th Judicial Circuit, comprising Newberry, Laurens, Greenwood, and Abbeville counties, since January 2013, Stumbo brings two decades of prosecutorial experience to the forefront.
“In my 20-year career as a prosecutor, I’ve encountered every type of criminal charge in our state’s courts,” stated Solicitor Stumbo. “I’ve relentlessly pursued justice, ensuring that hundreds of violent criminals, child abusers, and drug traffickers face the consequences of their actions.”
Stumbo’s collaborative approach with law enforcement agencies has yielded tangible benefits for the communities of the 8th Circuit. “Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our law enforcement partners is paramount,” remarked Stumbo. “Together, we’ve made significant strides in enhancing public safety.”
A champion for victims of crime and their families, Stumbo vows to continue this vital fight. “Fighting for the rights of crime victims has been a cornerstone of my tenure as Solicitor,” affirmed Stumbo. “If re-elected, I’m committed to keeping our families safe and ensuring justice is served.”
Under Stumbo’s leadership, the 8th Circuit has seen the establishment of crucial initiatives, including the 8th Circuit Human Trafficking Task Force, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s statewide taskforce. Additionally, the enhancement of the 8th Circuit Veterans’ Treatment Court program and the expansion of the Solicitor’s Drug Court program demonstrate Stumbo’s dedication to addressing pressing addiction issues within the community.
